c-type lectin

COLEC1 is a member of the C-lectin family. Members of this family possess collagen-like sequences and carbohydrate recognition domains. The other members of this family are secreted proteins and bind to carbohydrate antigens on microorganisms facilitating their recognition and removal. This gene product is a cytosolic protein, a characteristic that suggests that it may have different biological functions than other C-lectins. COLEC10 Protein, Cynomolgus, Recombinant (hFc) is expressed in HEK293 mammalian cells with hFc tag. The predicted molecular weight is 47.5 kDa and the accession number is XP_005564031.1.

Bone Marrow Proteoglycan (BMPG) is a secreted protein that contains one C-type lectin domain. BMPG is the predominant constituent of the crystalline core of the eosinophil granule. BMPG is highly expressed in placenta and pregnancy serum. BMPG may be involved in antiparasitic defense mechanisms as a cytotoxin and helminthotoxin. BMPG induces non-cytolytic histamine release from human basophils. In addition, BMPG also participated in antiparasitic defense mechanisms and immune hypersensitivity reactions.

Brevican Core Protein (BCAN) is a secreted protein that belongs to the aggrecan versican proteoglycan family. BCAN contains one C-type lectin domain, one EGF-like domain, one Ig-like V-type domain, one Sushi (CCP SCR) domain and two Link domains. BCAN may play a role in the terminally differentiating and the adult nervous system during postnatal development. BCAN could stabilize interactions between hyaluronan (HA) and brain proteoglycans.

C-Type Lectin Domain Family 3 Member B (CLEC3B) is a serum and tissue protein and it contais a C-type lectin which binds to Ca++. CLEC3B is originally found in plasma, the concentrations approximately 10mg l. It can bind to kringle 4 of plasminogen and enhance the activation of plaminogen to plasmin, catalyzed by tissue plasminogen activator in the presence of poly-D-lysine. In addition, CLEC3B may be involved in the packaging of molecules destined for exocytosis. Also, CLEC3B is best known as a prognostic marker in ovarian cancer.
