Secondary antibodies are antibodies that specifically recognize and bind to primary antibodies. They are widely used in immunological experiments, such as Western Blot, ELISA, and immunofluorescence, to detect and amplify the signals resulting from primary antibodies' binding to their target antigens. Secondary antibodies are commonly conjugated with enzymes, fluorescent dyes, or other chemical tags for detection. Their use greatly enhances the sensitivity and specificity of experiments while enabling signal amplification.
