1. Orientin (Luteolin-8-glucoside) may be regarded as a candidate therapeutic agent for treatment of vascular inflammatory diseases via inhibition of the HMGB1 signaling pathway. 2. Orientin protects vascular barrier integrity by inhibiting hyperpermeability, expression of CAMs, and adhesion and migration of leukocytes, thereby endorsing its usefulness as a therapy for vascular inflammatory diseases. 3. Orientin has neuroprotection effect by the intracellular mediation of caspase activity; may alleviate cognitive deficits and oxidative stress in AD mice; can exert antidepressant-like effects on CUMS mice, specifically by improving central oxidative stress, neurotransmission, and neuroplasticity.
Gallic acid (Benzoic acid) is found in almost all plants. Plants known for their high gallic acid content include gallnuts, grapes, tea, hops and oak bark.
1. Desoxyrhaponticin (Deoxyrhaponticin) is an agent that is potentially effective in controlling postprandial hyperglycemia in diabetes, the in vivo antidiabetic action of this compound can be explained, in part at least, by inhibition of glucose transport in the small intestine and inhibition of glucose reabsorption in the kidney. 2. Desoxyrhaponticin and rhaponticin could be considered as promising fatty acid synthase(FAS) inhibitors, they could inhibit intracellular FAS activity and downregulate FAS expression in human breast cancer MCF-7 cells.
1. Emodin-1-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (Emodin-1-O-glucoside) has neuroprotective and uncoupling activities, and that it may be the a new uncoupler of nNOS-PSD-95. 2. Emodin-1-O-β-D-glucopyranoside shows inhibitory effects on various tumor cells proliferation.
Emodin (Frangula emodin) is an 11β-HSD1 inhibitor with a selective IC50 of 186 and 86 nM against 11β-HSD1 in humans and mice, respectively. Emodin has antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer effects. Emodin can improve metabolic disorders in diet-induced obese mice.
Resveratroloside has cardioprotective effect, it exhibits α±-glucosidase inhibitory activity, it also can inhibit hydroxylation of testosterone by CYP3A4.
Physcion (Physcione) (Parietin) is an anthraquinone isolated from traditional Chinese medicine Radix et Rhizoma Rhei, acts as an inhibitor of 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase, with an IC50 and a Kd of 38.5 μM and 26.0 μM, respectively. Physcion (Parietin) exhibits laxative, hepatoprotective, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-proliferative and anti-tumor effects.
1. Rhapontin (Ponticin) can alleviate liver steatosis and improve blood glucose and lipid profiles in KK/Ay diabetic mice, indicates that rhaponticin has a noticeable antidiabetic effect and could be potentially used as a new agent to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus and its complications.
Avicularin (Fenicularin) has anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, hepatoprotective, antioxidant, anti-tumor and other activities. It ameliorates human hepatocellular carcinoma by modulating the activities of NF-κB(p65), COX-2, and PPAR-γ. In LPS-stimulated RAW 264.7 macrophages, it exerts anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting the ERK signaling pathway.
Rhapontigenin (Protigenin) is a mechanism-based, selective inactivator of cytochrome P450 1A1 (IC50: 400 nM), an aryl hydrocarbon hydroxylase which activates polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons that act as procarcinogens. Rhapontigenin is a natural analog of resveratrol with antioxidant and anti-cancer activity. At higher concentrations, rhapontigenin inhibits the proliferation of HL-60R and HepG2 cancer cell lines (IC50: 48 μM).
Aloe-emodin-8-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (Aloe-emodin-8-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside) exhibits moderate bioactivity against human Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1B (hPTP1B) in vitro.
Emodin-8-glucoside (Anthraglycoside B) functions to protect from focal cerebral injury induced by ischemia and reperfusion. Emodin-8-beta-D-glucoside directly stimulates cell proliferation and differentiation of osteoblasts.
Diacerein (Fisiodar) is a prodrug which is metabolized to rhein. It is currently approved in France for the treatment of osteoarthritis although the use of diacerein is restricted due to the side effects including sevre diarrhea [L780]. Diacerein is under investigation for the treatment of Insulin Resistance, Diabetes Mellitus (Type 2), and Diabetes-Related Complications.
4-Hydroxybenzoic acid (4-hydroxybenzoate) is a monohydroxybenzoic acid, a phenolic derivative of benzoic acid. It is a white crystalline solid that is slightly soluble in water and chloroform but more soluble in polar organic solvents such as alcohols. It could inhibit most gram-positive and some gram-negative bacteria, with an IC50 of 160 μg/mL.
Physcion 8-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (Physcion 8-O-beta-D-monoglucoside) has anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer activities. Physcion 8-O-β-D-glucopyranoside can be used in studies about common malignancy cancer.
Piceatannol 3'-O-glucoside (Piceatannol 3-glycoside) increases pulmonary blood oxygen tension and decreases pulmonary interstitial edema, so it can protect lung injury.
