Hyperuricemia Modeling

Hyperuricemia is a condition characterized by elevated blood uric acid levels caused by abnormalities in purine metabolism. It may progress to gout and renal dysfunction. Common modeling methods include administration of xanthine oxidase inhibitors combined with high-purine diets, as well as injection of uric acid salts. These models are widely used to investigate the regulatory mechanisms of uric acid metabolism, expression of renal urate transporters, and the screening of anti-hyperuricemic drugs.

Inosine
T043758-63-9
Inosine (NSC-20262), an endogenous purine nucleoside produced by the catabolism of adenosine, is an agonist of adenosine receptors A1R and A2AR. Inosine has anti-inflammatory, immunomodulatory, antinociceptive and neuroprotective effects.

Adenine
T006473-24-5
Adenine is a purine-derived nucleobase and one of the four bases of DNA. It is an important chemical component of both DNA and RNA, involved in cellular respiration, the formation of ATP and coenzymes NAD and FAD, as well as protein synthesis. Adenine is commonly used to induce chronic kidney injury models.

Ethambutol
T706274-55-5
Ethambutol is an oral anti-tuberculosis drug that inhibits arabinosyl transferase activity, thereby interfering with the synthesis of arabinogalactan and preventing cell wall formation to exert its antibacterial effect; it can also be used for animal models of hyperuricemia and optic neuropathy.
