Common induction methods include ischemia-reperfusion injury, cisplatin or cisplatin/lipopolysaccharide combination, mannitol overload, and contrast-induced nephropathy. These models are used for evaluating drug-induced nephrotoxicity, as well as studying renal protection and repair mechanisms.
