Schizophrenia Modeling

Schizophrenia is a severe psychiatric disorder characterized by hallucinations, delusions, and cognitive impairments. Experimental models include pharmacological induction using MK-801, PCP, or amphetamine (AMPH), as well as genetic models involving deletions of DISC1 or NRG1. These models are employed to study dopamine dysregulation, glutamate signaling abnormalities, and neurodevelopmental mechanisms.

Dizocilpine
T625977086-21-6
Dizocilpine (MK-801) is a selective non-competitive NMDA receptor antagonist with a Kd of 37.2 nM that exhibits anticonvulsant effects. It acts by binding to a site within the NMDA-associated ion channel, blocking the flow of Ca²⁺, and is commonly used to establish schizophrenia models.
