Glucagon (1-29), bovine, human, porcine hydrochloride (Porcine glucagon hydrochloride) is a peptide hormone produced by pancreatic α-cells that activates HNF4α, increases HNF4α phosphorylation, and stimulates gluconeogenesis.

HNF4 agonist 1 (compound 46) is a potent HNF4 activator. It effectively stimulates HNF4α and HNF4γ with EC50 values of 6 nM and 17 nM, respectively. HNF4 agonist 1 is applicable in the study of Maturity-Onset Diabetes of the Young type 1 (MODY-1).

HNF4A-IN-1 (Compound 17) is an inhibitor of hepatocyte nuclear factor 4α (HNF4A). It demonstrates potent anticancer activity against human head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (SCC131 cells) without exhibiting toxicity to normal cells. HNF4A-IN-1 effectively inhibits the growth of SCC131 cells with an IC50 of 1.75 μM, inducing apoptosis and G2/M cell cycle arrest. Additionally, it facilitates tumor regression in SCC131 xenograft mouse models.

BI 6015 is an antagonist of HNF4α. HNF4α is a nuclear receptor that regulates gene expression in the intestine cells, liver cells, and pancreas-β cells.
