Diclofenac sodium is a non-selective anti-inflammatory drug and a cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor. In CHO cells, its IC₅₀ values against human COX-1 and COX-2 are 4 nM and 1.3 nM, respectively; against ovine COX-1 and COX-2, they are 5.1 μM and 0.84 μM, respectively. In addition, diclofenac sodium induces apoptosis in neural stem cells by activating the caspase cascade.
