Ethyl ferulate (Ethyl 4'-hydroxy-3'-methoxycinnamate) is the alkyl ester derivative of ferulic acid which is a naturally occurring plant product with anti-oxidative, anti-inflammatory, neuroprotective, and antiproliferative activities.

Ethyl ferulate could be used for therapeutic purposes as a potent inducer of HO-1 for the protection of brain cells against oxidative and neurodegenerative conditions.

Phenethyl ferulate (Caffeic Acid 3-Methyl Phenethyl Ester) has chemopreventive properties against chemically induced colon carcinogenesis. It enhances apoptosis in azoxymethane induced colon tumors. It shows inhibitory activity against cyclooxygenase (COX) and 5-lipoxygenase (5-LOX) with IC50 values of 4.35 μM and 5.75 μM, respectively.

(E)-Ferulic acid methyl ester (Methyl (E)-ferulate) is a potential inhibitor of the mitogen-activated phosphor kinase pathway and an anti-inflammatory agent first isolated from the medicinal plant S. tuberosa. Additionally, it shows promising anthelmintic activity against Haemonchus contortus.
