Buxales is an order of flowering plants that includes the family Buxaceae, such as boxwood (Buxus). Members of this order produce alkaloids, steroidal compounds, and triterpenoids with defensive and pharmacological properties. In biomedical research, Buxales is studied for its anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and cytotoxic activities, particularly from alkaloid-rich species. Although relatively small in diversity, its chemical complexity makes it relevant for natural product chemistry and evolutionary studies of early eudicots.
