Bruniaceae

Bruniaceae is a small family of flowering plants endemic mainly to South Africa, within the order Bruniales. Members produce flavonoids, phenolic acids, and triterpenoids that support adaptation to nutrient-poor, fire-prone environments. In biomedical research, Bruniaceae is relatively underexplored but may possess antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Its restricted distribution and unique evolutionary position make it valuable for studying specialized metabolite evolution in isolated floras.
