Actinidiaceae

Actinidiaceae are a small family of flowering plants. The family has three genera and about 360 species and is a member of the order Ericales. Kiwifruit belongs to the Actinidiaceae family. It is a native of Asia and is widely consumed around the world. Kiwifruit has been shown to have benefits for human health (plasma antioxidant capacity, reduction of plasmatic lipids, diabetes, inflammation, etc.). These benefits are most probably due to the high content of different types of phytochemicals, such as vitamin C, phenolic acids, flavonoids, carotenoids, and chlorophylls.
