Ticarcillin disodium is an antibiotic derived from penicillin. It is similar to Carbenicillin in action.

Ticarcillin disodium (Ticarpen) is the disodium salt form of ticarcillin, a broad-spectrum, semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic with bactericidal and beta-lactamase resistant activity. Similar to carbenicillin in action, ticarcillin inactivates the penicillin-sensitive transpeptidase C-terminal domain by opening the lactam ring. This inactivation prevents the cross-linkage of peptidoglycan strands, thereby inhibiting the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. This leads to incomplete bacterial cell wall synthesis and eventually causes cell lysis.

Ticarcillin sodium (Aerugipen hydrate) is a semisynthetic antibiotic with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative aerobic and anaerobic bacteria.

Ticarcillin monosodium, a semisynthetic carboxypenicillin antibacterial agent, exhibits broad-spectrum activity against gram-positive cocci such as streptococci and staphylococci. It is also effective against most gram-negative organisms, notably Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Augpenin is a mixture composed of Ticarcillin and Clavulanic acid combined in a 15:1 ratio.

rel-Avibactam (NXL-104) sodium is a β-lactamase inhibitor with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. When combined with Ceftazidime, rel-Avibactam sodium exhibits significant inhibitory effects on Enterobacteriaceae producing Ambler class A and C β-lactamases. Its IC50 values are significantly lower than those of commonly used β-lactamase inhibitors like Clavulanic acid and Ticarcillin, demonstrating high efficacy against TEM-1 and P99 enzymes.
