Rhododendrol (Frambinol) is a melanin synthesis and acts by preventing high-fat diet-induced elevation in body weight and increasing lipolysis in white adipocytes in male mice. Rhododendrol can be used as the lightening/whitening cosmetics inhibitor.

(+)-Rhododendrol is a natural product capable of inhibiting the proliferation of B16 melanoma cells.

(+/-)-Rhododendrol, is an aromatic compound that may be useful in hepatic disease research contexts. (+/-)-Rhododendrol, is a known pro-oxidant that can be toxic to melanocytes and is therefore used in oxidative stress and melanocyte biology research systems to investigate redox imbalance, cellular toxicity mechanisms, and pigment cell susceptibility in vitro.
