Metronidazole (Metronidazol) is a synthetic nitroimidazole derivative with antiprotozoal and antibacterial activities.

Diloxanide (RD3803) is an endomoeba insecticide. It is considered to be the luminal agent of choice for patients with mild enteroamoebiasis or asymptomatic cysts.

Fexinidazole (HOE 239) is an antiparasitic agent with activity against Trypanosoma cruzi, Tritrichomonas foetus, Trichomonas vaginalis, Entamoeba histolytica, Trypanosoma brucei, and Leishmania donovani. The biologically relevant active metabolites in vivo are the sulfoxide and sulfone.

Linearolactone, isolated from Salvia polystachya, inhibits Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia.

Symetine dihydrochloride (L 16726 dihydrochloride) is the bis-hydrochloride form of Symetine. It exhibits antiprotozoal activity against Entamoeba histolytica and can ameliorate amoebic liver abscesses in guinea pigs.

1,2-Dimethyl-1H-benzo[d]imidazole has antibacterial activity against Entamoeba histolytica and Giardia lamblia, and is widely used in biochemical experiments and drug synthesis research.
