acyl carrier protein (acp)

Acyl Carrier Protein (ACP) (65-74) is an active fragment of the Acyl Carrier Protein, which is a component of plastid-located plant fatty acid synthetase. It covalently binds acyl groups via the prosthetic group, 4-phosphopantetheine, during fatty acid biosynthesis.

Aquastatin C, a metabolite derived from fungi found in Sporothix, is distinct from aquastatin A. It does not inhibit bacterial enoyl-ACP reductases, such as the enoyl-acyl carrier protein reductase from S. aureus (Fabl; IC50 = >100 µM). Additionally, aquastatin C shows no activity against S. aureus, methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA), or S. pneumoniae, with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) exceeding 128 for all.
