Posidoniaceae

Posidoniaceae is a small family of marine seagrasses within the order Alismatales, adapted to fully submerged coastal environments. These plants produce secondary metabolites such as phenolic compounds, flavonoids, and sulfur-containing molecules that contribute to their stress tolerance in saline marine habitats. In biomedical and environmental research, Posidoniaceae is important for its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, as well as its role in carbon sequestration and marine ecosystem stability.
