Hypertension Modeling

Hypertension is one of the most common chronic cardiovascular diseases, significantly impacting the function of the heart, brain, kidneys, and other organs. Common modeling methods include DOCA-salt induction, abdominal aortic constriction (2K1C/2K2C models), high-salt diet, and Angiotensin II infusion. These models are used to study blood pressure regulation mechanisms, endothelial dysfunction, and to evaluate the efficacy of antihypertensive drugs.

Angiotensin II human
T70404474-91-3
Angiotensin II is a major biologically active vasoconstrictor peptide that regulates blood pressure by binding to AT1R and AT2R receptors. It stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, promotes aldosterone synthesis, and enhances renal function. Additionally, it induces vascular smooth muscle cell proliferation and increases collagen synthesis, leading to vascular and myocardial hypertrophy and fibrosis. It also promotes apoptosis and endothelial capillary formation. Angiotensin II is commonly used to induce hypertension and cardiac hypertrophy animal models.

Dexamethasone
T107650-02-2
Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid receptor agonist and IL receptor modulator with anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive, and apoptosis-inducing activities. It inhibits the production of inflammatory miRNA-155 exosomes in macrophages, significantly reduces inflammatory cytokine expression in neutrophils and monocytes, suppresses LPS-induced macrophage inflammation, and induces autophagy. It is commonly used to induce animal models of depression, muscle atrophy, and hypertension, and holds potential in COVID-19 research.

Monocrotaline
T2803315-22-0
Monocrotaline is an 11-membered macrocyclic pyrrolizidine alkaloid extracted from the seeds of Crotalaria plants. It inhibits organic cation transporters OCT-1 and OCT-2, with IC50 values of 36.8 µM and 1.8 mM, respectively. Monocrotaline exhibits antitumor activity and shows certain cytotoxicity against liver cancer cells such as HepG2. It is also commonly used to induce pulmonary arterial hypertension models in rodents.

Uric acid sodium
T412421198-77-2
Uric acid sodium is a potent and widely recognized antioxidant with the ability to scavenge oxygen free radicals, helping to maintain blood pressure stability and counteract oxidative stress. It effectively eliminates reactive oxygen species (ROS), such as singlet oxygen and peroxynitrite, and inhibits lipid peroxidation. Additionally, uric acid sodium is closely associated with the pathogenesis of gouty arthritis and the formation of calcium oxalate stones, and it can be used to induce hypertension models.

Uric Acid
T062669-93-2
Uric acid is an important antioxidant that scavenges oxygen radicals and reactive oxygen species (such as singlet oxygen and peroxynitrite), inhibits lipid peroxidation, helps maintain stable blood pressure, and is the final product of purine metabolism. It is commonly used to induce hypertension models.

Deoxycorticosterone acetate
T303356-47-3
Deoxycorticosterone acetate (DOCA) is a steroid hormone produced by the adrenal glands, possessing mineralocorticoid activity and serving as a precursor to aldosterone. As an agonist of the mineralocorticoid receptor, DOCA can induce severe kidney damage, including inflammation, fibrosis, glomerular injury, and proteinuria. It is commonly used to establish animal models of chronic kidney injury and hypertension.

Yohimbine hydrochloride
T214265-19-0
Yohimbine hydrochloride is a plant-derived alkaloid with alpha-2 adrenergic receptor blocking activity. By blocking presynaptic or postsynaptic alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, it promotes the release of norepinephrine and dopamine. It has been used in studies related to mydriasis and erectile dysfunction and is commonly used to induce hypertension models.

Angiotensin II human TFA
T741422761969-44-0
Angiotensin II human TFA is a potent vasoconstrictor in the renin-angiotensin system that regulates blood pressure through interactions with AT1R and AT2R receptors. It activates sympathetic nerve activity, promotes aldosterone synthesis and renal function, induces proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells, and enhances type I and III collagen production in fibroblasts, leading to vascular and myocardial thickening and fibrosis. It also triggers apoptosis and promotes capillary formation, making it suitable for establishing models of cardiac hypertrophy, hypertension, and abdominal aortic aneurysm.
