Poaceae

Poaceae, a grass family of monocotyledonous flowering plants, is a division of the order Poales. The genera in the family of Poaceae include a wide range of grasses, such as bamboo, barley, cane, fescue, lawn grass, oats, pappus, and rice. Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is a majorly cultivated crop across the world and is consumed as a staple food in many countries. Apart from providing essential nutrients (i.e., carbohydrates, proteins, and vitamins), wheat grain also contains significant levels of biologically active dietary substances, such as carotenoids, flavonoids, and phenolic compounds.
