Musaceae

Musaceae is a family of flowering plants composed of three genera with about 91 known species, placed in the order Zingiberales. Banana is an edible fruit belonging to the genus Musa (Musaceae) with nutritional properties and also with acclaimed therapeutic uses. Banana has been used in traditional medicines for managing coughs and colds, ulcers, burns, and diarrhea. Banana's pulp and peel can be used as natural sources of antioxidants and pro-vitamin A due to their contents in carotenoids, phenolics, and amine compounds.
