Liliaceae

Liliaceae consists of about 15 genera and 610 species of flowering plants within the order Liliales. Plants in this family have evolved with a fair amount of morphological diversity despite the genetic similarity. Aloe vera (AV), a succulent plant belonging to the Liliaceae family, has been widely used for biomedical and pharmaceutical application. Its popularity stems from several of its bioactive components that have anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory and even immunomodulatory effects.
