Topiramate

Topiramate (RWJ 17021) is a unique antiseizure medication that is used in the treatment of partial and generalized seizures. Topiramate has been rarely associated with hepatic injury and largely when used in combination with other anticonvulsant medications.

Topiramate D12 is a deuterium labeled Topiramate. Topiramate is an agent of broad-spectrum antiepileptic. Topiramate is an antagonist of GluR5 receptor.

Topiramate lithium (McN 4853) is a broad-spectrum antiepileptic compound with GluR5 receptor antagonistic properties. Its mechanism of action includes enhancing GABAergic activity, inhibiting kainate AMPA receptors, voltage-sensitive sodium and calcium channels, and increasing potassium conductance. JNJ-26990990 is a broad-spectrum anticonvulsant drug and a second-generation follow-up to the marketed drug topiramate. It offers the same anticonvulsant effects as topiramate but without the side effects associated with topiramate's carbonic anhydrase inhibition. Additionally, JNJ-26990990 has potential use in treating inflammatory pain, neuropathic pain, and depression. [It] entered phase II clinical trials in October 2007.
