Apoptosis detection dyes are a class of chemical reagents used to identify and quantify the process of apoptosis. They are detected by binding to phosphatidylserine, DNA breaks or caspase activity and are widely used in disease research and drug development.

FITC-Dextran (MW 4000) can also be used for cell permeability studies, such as the determination of blood-brain barrier permeability and the degree of blood-brain barrier disruption.
