Aclacinomycin A is an anthracycline drug. It sensitizes K562 chronic myeloid leukemia cells to imatinib through p38MAPK-mediated erythroid differentiation. It is used in the treatment of cancer.

Aclacinomycin A hydrochloride (Aclarubicin HCl) is an anthracycline antibiotic and inhibitor of topoisomerase I II, interfering with DNA transcription and replication, inhibiting tumour invasion and angiogenesis, generating reactive oxygen species (ROS), and inhibiting the catalytic centre of the 20S proteasome. It is indicated for the treatment of relapsed leukaemia and advanced malignant lymphoma.

10-Decarbomethoxyaclacinomycin A is an anthracycline antibiotic produced by the mutant strain Streptomyces galilaeus MA144-Mlt KE303. This compound exhibits antibacterial activity.

2-Hydroxyaclacinomycin B is an anthracycline antibiotic. It can be found in Streptomyces galilaeus A-862 (FERM BP-45). This compound significantly inhibits RNA synthesis and exhibits antitumor activity.

Antibiotic MA 144M2 is an anthracycline glycoside that inhibits the growth of gram-positive bacteria, e.g. Staphyococcus aureaus, Bacillus subtilis and Sarcina lutea, and inhibits the growth of animal tumors such as leukemia L 1210, P 388 and sarcoma 180. It's produced by fermentation of MA 144-producing strains of streptomyces and by the chemical or enzymatic conversion of aclacinomycin A or cinerubin A.
