(+)-Catechin 3-gallate is an orally active polyphenolic compound and a non-selective proteasome inhibitor. It exhibits antitumor activity by inducing apoptosis and inhibiting inflammatory cytokines. (+)-Catechin 3-gallate is promising for research into cancer (such as breast and prostate cancer) and neurodegenerative diseases (such as Alzheimer’s disease).

(-)-Catechin gallate ((-)-Catechin 3-O-gallate) displays inhibition of 6PGD, IDH. (-)-Catechin gallate ((-)-Catechin 3-O-gallate) displays inhibition of human Beta-secretase. (-)-Catechin gallate ((-)-Catechin 3-O-gallate) possesses antiplasmodial activity against chloroquine-sensitive Plasmodium falciparum NF54 and chloroquine-resistant Plasmodium falciparum K1.

This compound can inhibit histamine release and possesses anti-inflammatory and antiallergic properties.
