Lecythidaceae

The Lecythidaceae comprise a family of about 20 genera and 250–300 species of woody plants. Lecythis pisonis Camb. (Lecythidaceae), is popularly known as "Sapucaia". In traditional medicine, leaves are used for the treatment of pruritus.
