(+)-UH 232 Maleate selectively binds to and blocks D₂ autoreceptors on central dopaminergic neurons, thereby lifting their negative feedback inhibition on dopamine synthesis and release. (+)-UH 232 Maleate binds to D₃ receptors with low intrinsic activity (0.2–0.4) and can partially activate the receptor signaling pathway.
