agmatine

Agmatine sulfate (Agmatine sulfate salt) is a bioactive metabolite of the arginine amino acid. It exerts modulatory action at multiple molecular targets, such as neurotransmitter systems, ion channels and nitric oxide synthesis. It is an endogenous agonist at imidazoline receptor and a NO synthase inhibitor.

Agmatine is decarboxylated arginine.

Acetylagmatine (N-Acetylagmatine) acetate is the product formed by the enzyme guanidinoacetate N-acetyltransferase (AgmNAT), which catalyzes the reaction between acetyl coenzyme A and agmatine. Agmatine itself results from the decarboxylation of arginine and functions as a neurotransmitter and neuromodulator in the mammalian brain.

Monofluoromethylagmatine is an arginine decarboxylase inhibitor.

Arcaine sulfate is a NMDA antagonist.

N-(3-Methoxybenzyl)Oleamide (MAC 18:1), an agmatine isolated from Lepidium meyenii, has pharmacological effects on exercise-induced fatigue, which may be related to the modulation of energy metabolism and improvement of antioxidant status.
