mecillinam

Mecillinam (Hexacillin), an extended-spectrum penicillin antibiotic, is considered to be active against Gram-negative bacteria by binding specifically to penicillin-binding protein 2 (PBP2). It is used primarily to treat urinary tract infections and has also been used in the treatment of paratyphoid fever and typhoid.

Pivmecillinam hydrochloride (FL-1039 hydrochloride) is an orally active prodrug of mecillinam, an extended-spectrum penicillin antibiotic effective against gram-negative organisms, and is used as a substitute for amdinocillin.

Amdinocillin pivoxil is a Pivaloyloxymethyl ester of amdinocillin that is well absorbed orally, but broken down to amdinocillin in the intestinal mucosa. It is active against gram-negative organisms and used as for amdinocillin.

Amdinocillin methylacetate is a Synthetic penicillin.
