The P7C3 class of neuroprotective aminopropyl carbazoles has been shown to block neuronal cell death in models of neurodegeneration. We now show that P7C3 molecules additionally preserve axonal integrity after injury, before neuronal cell death occurs, in

P7C3-OMe, a pro-neurogenic agent, has therapeutic benefits in neurodegenerative diseases. The R-enantiomer of P7C3-OMe is far more active than the S-enantiomer.

P7C3-A20, a derivative of P7C3, exhibits both proneurogenic and neuroprotective activities (brackets).

(S)-P7C3-OMe is a methoxy derivative of parent compound P7C3, an aminopropyl carbazole that exhibits antidepressant and neuroprotective activities.
