Description | Ivermectin (MK-933) is a glutamate-gated chloride channel (GluCls) activator, with antiparasitic activity. |
In vitro | Ivermectin exhibits antiviral activity against HIV-1 and Dengue fever virus. It binds to a novel site on GABAA receptors in hippocampal embryonic neurons of mice, conformationally enhancing the affinity of the GABA binding site. In nematodes, the compound interacts with glutamate-gated chloride channels (GluCls), disrupting the regulation mediated by GluCl activity. |
In vivo | Intraperitoneal injection of Ivermectin (1.25-10 mg/kg) can reduce the consumption of alcohol and saccharin. For mice exposed to lethal doses of LPS, Ivermectin inhibits LPS-induced NF-kB translocation and enhances survival rates. |
