| Description | Rosiglitazone maleate (BRL 49653) is the maleate salt of rosiglitazone, an orally-active thiazolidinedione with antidiabetic properties and potential antineoplastic activity. |
| Targets&IC50 | PPARγ2:100 nM (EC50), PPARγ:42 nM, PPARγ1:30 nM (EC50) |
| In vivo | In numerous cell lines, Rosiglitazone has been found to inhibit cholesterol synthesis. It activates the AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) complex, which includes the α1 and α2 subunits within the AMPKα subunit, leading to an increase in phosphorylation. |
