| Description | Benzyl salicylate (NSC 6647), a salicylic acid derivative, is protective against cisplatin-induced apoptosis in LLC-PK1 cells and also inhibits LPS-induced NO production. |
| In vitro | In human breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and T47D, Benzyl salicylate (10⁻⁵–10⁻⁷ M, 72 h) significantly increased cell viability, indicating estrogen-like activity. Benzyl salicylate also enhanced estrogen response element (ERE)-driven reporter gene activity and upregulated the estrogen target gene pS2, effects that were antagonized by the antiestrogen ICI 182,780[1]. |
