Description	Neurokinin A (NKA), formerly known as Substance K, is a neurologically active peptide translated from the pre-protachykinin gene.
In vitro	Neurokinin A (Substance K), a peptide neurotransmitter from the tachykinin family, plays a key role as a mediator in human airway and gastrointestinal tissues through its action on the NK-2 receptor, primarily found on smooth muscle cells and linked to a GTP-binding protein. As part of the tachykinin family, known for its involvement in both the central and peripheral nervous systems and its broad tissue presence, Neurokinin A shares a common COOH-terminal structure Phe-X-Gly-Leu-Met-NH with other family members, including well-recognized peers like Substance P.
