| Description | D-Pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) is an essential micronutrient and a precursor to coenzyme A. D-Pantothenic acid participates in the metabolism of the three major nutrients—fat, carbohydrates, and protein—within the body. D-Pantothenic acid also plays a crucial role in skin barrier repair, maintaining hematopoietic function, and synthesizing adrenal hormones. |
| In vivo | Methods: ICR pregnant mice (8.5 days gestation) were administered valproic acid (VPA: 300, 400, 500 mg/kg) via subcutaneous injection and D-Pantothenic acid (PTA: 3×10, 3×100, 3×300 mg/kg) via intraperitoneal injection; In the combination group, PTA was administered 1 hour before, immediately upon, and 1 hour after VPA administration; embryonic development and malformations were assessed at 18.5 days of gestation. Results: D-Pantothenic acid reduced valproic acid-induced neural tube defects in mice. [1] |
