Product Introduction

Trolox AI Summary
Trolox exhibits potent antioxidant properties through various mechanisms, including inhibition of lipid peroxidation and free radical scavenging activities. It shows significant activity in inhibiting microsomal lipid peroxidation, with IC50 values of 2800.0 nM and 24800.0 nM in different assays. It demonstrates strong DPPH radical scavenging abilities with IC50 values ranging from 10600.0 nM to 45000.0 nM, and effective ABTS radical scavenging with an IC50 value of 14540.0 nM. The compound also displays superoxide radical scavenging with an IC50 of 32800.0 nM, and hydroxyl radical scavenging with an IC50 of 2830.0 nM. Additionally, it inhibits AAPH-induced lipid peroxidation in linoleic acid emulsions with an inhibition rate of 63.0%. In terms of cardioprotective and neuroprotective effects, Trolox reduces myocardial malondialdehyde (MDA) levels at a concentration of 5 µM and protects SH-SY5Y cells from H2O2-induced damage, indicating its potential in mitigating oxidative stress-related cellular damage. The compound also has an arrhythmic score of 3.15 at a 5 µM concentration, suggesting a role in maintaining cardiac function. Given its broad spectrum of antioxidant activities and protective effects against oxidative stress in various biological systems, Trolox holds promise for therapeutic applications in conditions associated with oxidative stress and related damage..

Melan-a cells:300 μM, SH-SY5Y cells:82.3 μM, MCF-7 cells:> 300 μM, HL-60 cells:0.3 μg/mL, MT-4 cells:200 μM, RPMI8226 cells:> 300 μM, RAW 264.7 cells:30 μM, HepG2 cells:> 300 μM, Erythrocyte:101 μM, U-937 cells:300 μM
In vitro
METHODS: Human cervical cancer cells HeLa were treated with Trolox (2.5-160 µM) for 24 h and cell viability was measured using MTT assay.
RESULTS: Cell viability decreased dose-dependently, with the maximum effect observed at 160 µM Trolox. [1]
METHODS: Human skin fibroblasts were treated with Trolox (0.5 mM) for 96 h. The expression levels of target proteins were measured by Western Blot.
RESULTS: Trolox increased the mitochondrial levels of Mfn2 in primary human skin fibroblasts without affecting these levels of Drp1 and hFis1. [2]
In vivo
METHODS: To investigate the neuroprotective effects, Trolox (50 mg/kg) was intraperitoneally injected once a day for ten days into an MPTP-induced Parkinson's disease mouse model.
RESULTS: Trolox may exert neuroprotective effects on dopaminergic neurons against MPTP-induced oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, motor dysfunction and neurodegeneration. [3]
