Spiraeoside (Quercetin 4′-O-glucoside) is a compound that can be extracted from red onion skins. It exhibits antioxidant, anti-allergy, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor activities. It protects human myocardial cells from high glucose-induced damage, oxidative stress, and apoptosis by activating the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 pathway. It also inhibits mast cell activation and IgE-mediated allergic reactions by suppressing phospholipase C-γ-mediated signaling.

| Description | Spiraeoside (Quercetin 4′-O-glucoside) is a compound that can be extracted from red onion skins. It exhibits antioxidant, anti-allergy, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor activities. It protects human myocardial cells from high glucose-induced damage, oxidative stress, and apoptosis by activating the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 pathway. It also inhibits mast cell activation and IgE-mediated allergic reactions by suppressing phospholipase C-γ-mediated signaling. |
| In vitro | Spiraeoside attenuated the high glucose (HG) -induced decline in cell viability and increased levels of the myocardial enzymes lactate dehydrogenase and aspartate aminotransferase in AC16 cells. Spiraeoside protects AC16 cells from HG-induced oxidative stress, cell damage and apoptosis. The protective effect of Spiraeoside is regulated by the PI3K/Akt/Nrf2 signaling pathway. [1] Spiraeoside inhibits IGE-mediated mast cell activation and anaphylaxis by inhibiting PLC-γ2/MAPK signaling in Lyn induced mast cells. [2] |
| In vivo | Spiraeoside (200 mg/kg orally) improved sperm count, motility and testicular morphology in rats. [3] |
