Description | Cyclandelate (BS 572), a direct-acting smooth muscle relaxant, is used to dilate blood vessels. |
In vivo | In vascular smooth muscle, Cyclandelate induces peripheral vasodilation by antagonizing calcium ion channel function. It facilitates the hydrolysis of aromatic and aliphatic esters, contributing to the detoxification of xenobiotics and the activation of ester and amide prodrugs, yet it exhibits no catalytic activity toward amides or acyl-CoA esters. |
