Description | Tryptamine hydrochloride is a monoamine alkaloid, metabolite of tryptophan and CNS active substance, agonist of 5-HT4 receptor, TAAR1 and AHR, with potential for blood-brain barrier permeability. |
In vitro | In perfused cat skin flaps and gastrocnemius muscles, arterial injection of tryptamine hydrochloride (2 mg/0.5 mL) induced significant histamine release (up to 283 µg per injection), along with vasoconstriction and edema formation. This activity confirms that Tryptamine hydrochloride acts as a histamine-releasing agent in vitro[1]. |
In vivo | Subcutaneous injection of 2 mg Tryptamine hydrochloride (in 0.5 mL) in rats led to a marked reduction in histamine content at the injection site. Repeated intraperitoneal injections totaling 13 mg over 3 days significantly decreased histamine levels in the skin (by 30-46%) and diaphragm (by 26%), indicating systemic histamine release[1]. |
