| Description | Praeruptorin B (Praeruptorin D), a compound found in the roots of Peuced, is an inhibitor of sterol regulatory element-binding proteins (SREBPs) that attenuates the metastatic ability of human renal cancer cells by targeting CTSC and CTSV expression, and can be used in the study of osteoporosis. |
| In vitro | Praeruptorin B inhibited the activity of SREBPs and reduced intracellular lipid levels, and significantly down-regulated the expression of SREBP-1c and SREBP-2.Praeruptorin B potently reduced SRE-luciferase activity and the effect was dose-dependent.[1] |
| In vivo | Mice treated with 50 mg/kg Praeruptorin B weighed significantly less than those treated with the vector, although they were still heavier than mice fed regular chow, suggesting that Praeruptorin B ameliorates diet-induced obesity (DIO). Staining results showed that Praeruptorin B-treated mice exhibited less lipid accumulation than vector-treated mice. Elevated fasting blood glucose and insulin levels in high-fat diet-fed mice were significantly reduced by Praeruptorin B. The results showed that the elevated fasting blood glucose and insulin levels in Praeruptorin B-treated mice were significantly reduced. [1] |
