Sudan III (Solvent Red 23) is a solvent dye used to color nonpolar substances.
Description | Sudan III (Solvent Red 23) is a solvent dye used to color nonpolar substances. |
In vitro | Sudan III undergoes a color shift from orange to blue when introduced to a minimal volume of sulfuric acid, with its behavior in an acetonitrile solution being optimal for observation of this color transition. Spectroscopic analyses, including (1)H-NMR and UV-Vis, have revealed that this color change mechanism is attributed to the protonation of Sudan III by sulfuric acid. |
