Description | Guattegaumerine, a bisbenzylisoquinoline alkaloid, exhibits antimitotic, cytotoxic, and neuroprotective activities. |
In vitro | Gauttegaumerine administration (1.25-6.25 μM; 24 hours; 30 min before exposure to serum-starvation+H2O2) notably enhances cell viability at concentrations of 1.25 and 2.5μM. Pretreatment with guattegaumerine also significantly reduces LDH efflux[1]. At a concentration of 2.5 μM and the same pretreatment duration, guattegaumerine substantially diminishes oxidative stress-induced apoptosis in rat cortical neurons compared to the control group[1]. Furthermore, guattegaumerine, at doses ranging from 1.25 to 2.5 μM, effectively lowers the increase in Ca[2+]i prompted by H2O2 and KCl in cortical neurons[1]. |
