The human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) were maintained in RPMI-1640 medium supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum at 37 ℃ in a humidified atmosphere of 95% air and 5% CO2. The stock solution of compounds was prepared at 100 mg/ml in dimethylsulfoxide and kept at –20 ℃. For MTT assay, cells were seeded at 10^4 cells per well onto 96-well culture plates. For assay of apoptosis, cells were seeded at 10^5 cell per well onto a 24-well plate.
