4'-Hydroxy-2,4-dimethoxychalcone, a naturally occurring chalcone derivative from the herbal resin of the red geranium [Dragon's Blood], exhibits a wide range of biological activities including anti-malarial, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-protozoa properties.
In vitro
4'-Hydroxy-2,4-dimethoxychalcone (compound 2) exhibits activity against P. falciparum strains D6 and W2, with IC50 values of 4.2 μM and 4.8 μM, respectively. [1]
In vivo
'Oral administration of 4'-Hydroxy-2,4-dimethoxychalcone (compound 2) at 160 mg/kg in ICR mice resulted in a T1/2 of 1.94 hours, Cmax of 158 ng/mL, and AUC of 384 ng•h/mL.[1]'
