Description
N-(3-Oxooctanoyl)-DL-homoserine lactone is an N-acyl homoserine lactone (AHL) synthesized by Gram-negative bacteria. Its regulatory activity on plant root growth is stereostructure-dependent.
In vitro
Methods: Sugarcane was treated with the R and S enantiomers of N-(3-Oxooctanoyl)-DL-homoserine lactone, respectively, and root germination and root cell elongation were observed.
Results: In sugarcane, the S enantiomer of N-(3-Oxooctanoyl)-DL-homoserine lactone showed significantly better effects in promoting root germination than the R enantiomer. Both enantiomers (R and S) induced root cell elongation [1].
