Description	Epiandrosterone (EpiA) is a dehydroepiandrosterone metabolite and a precursor of testosterone and estradiol with hypolipidemic and anabolic property.
In vivo	Epiandrosterone is only a weak androgen, but is widely recognized to inhibit the pentose phosphate pathway and reduce intracellular levels of reduced coenzyme II.Epiandrosterone is formed in peripheral tissues, released into the circulation, and ultimately excreted in the urine.Epiandrosterone reduces NO-induced relaxation of the pulmonary arteries, and, while Epiandrosterone acts on isolated lungs to inhibit angiotensin II- and hypoxia-induced vasoconstriction and to relax isolated pulmonary arteries preconstricted by KCl.
