Description

Tetradifon is utilized for controlling a variety of mite pests and inhibiting energy-related mitochondrial activities including ADP-stimulated respiration and ATPase activity with an IC50 range of 4.5-27 nmoL/mg mitochondrial protein; it exerts oligomycin-like effects by inhibiting oxidative phosphorylation, inducing significant oxidative stress, and interfering with bone metabolism, making it a compound of interest for researching mitochondrial function, bone remodeling mechanisms, and nephrotoxicity.
In vivo
Tetradifon (24.3 mg/kg, oral gavage, 90 days) treatment of female Wistar rats showed an increase in creatinine/urea levels by 24%/43% at week 12, an increase in glomerular sclerosis rate to 22%, an increase in interstitial fibrosis index by 200%, a decrease in renal SOD/GPx activity by 32%/17%, and a decrease in vitamin C content by 31%.
