| Description | Methylpheophorbide A is a natural compound and an important derivative of chlorophyll a. It has photosensitive properties and can generate singlet oxygen and reactive oxygen species (ROS) under specific wavelength irradiation, thereby mediating oxidative damage and apoptosis in tumor cells. |
| In vitro | Methods: U937 and SK-HEP-1 cells were treated with different concentrations of Methylpheophorbide A (0.25–2 μg/mL) for 4 hours. Cell viability, caspase 3/7 activity and morphological changes were detected to evaluate its pro‑apoptotic effect. Results: Methylpheophorbide A (0.25–2 μg/mL, 4 h treatment) markedly reduced the viability of U937 and SK-HEP-1 cells, activated caspase 3/7, promoted the formation of apoptotic bodies and vesicles, and ultimately induced apoptosis in tumor cells [3]. |
