Description
Dinophysistoxin 1 (DTX 1, 35-methylokadaic acid), a causative agent of diarrhetic shellfish poisoning, exhibits tumor-promoting activity and acts as a skin irritant [1].
In vitro
Dinophysistoxin 1 inhibits the binding of [3H] okadaic acid to the particulate fraction of mouse epidermis [1].
In vivo
Dinophysistoxin 1, administered topically at a dose of 5 μg/mouse on the back twice weekly for a duration of 30 weeks, increased the tumor load in mice previously treated with 100 μg of 7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene (DMBA) [1].
