In vitro
Hematoporphyrin monomethyl ether (HMME) is a promising photosensitizer for photodynamic therapy that induces cell death in HeLa cells through both necrosis and apoptosis, primarily via the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) like singlet oxygen and hydroxyl radicals[2].
